Types of Meditation - Which One Suits You Best ? We Explore !

Before we go head-long into talking about and listing the different types of meditation . It is important that we understand what meditation is and its purpose. In our web page what is meditation we defined meditation as 'concentrated communion with God'. Thus having understood this point we can then understand the purpose of any form of meditation.

So why are there so many forms or types. One answer is simply because, given that there are many different types of personalities in the world, just one form of expression with the divine will not satisfy everyone. Apart from the main religious bodies that exist today, each having their own definite approach to communing with God. There are still other different types or forms of meditation some more well known than others, such as TM or transcendental meditation which was founded by the Maharishi Yogi. For those of you those old enough to remember he was the Yogi that the "Beatles" went to visit in India. Yet another great Yogi was Paramahansa Yogananda who gave the western world the practice of Kryia Yoga meditation.

As long as the method practiced can bring about the desired concentration on God or supreme mindfulness that is essential to meditation, then it is a genuine means of scientific communion with God. The reason why I use the word scientific here is because for a method of meditation to have validity, (providing the individual is performing the technique correctly) it must produce the same results when repeated.
